About the Kick Start Cafe

Welcome to the Kick Start Café. It is a virtual gathering spot in the tradition of the Ace Café in London. A place where riders can show off their machines and tell stories about their journeys. And a celebration of motorcycle and café culture past and present.

The Kick Start Café is a collaborative effort hosted and curated by Jim Koenigsaecker. Jim is, among other things, a connoisseur of vintage BMW motorcycles and artisan coffee. You can learn more about Jim at koenigsaecker.com.

The motorcycle featured on the website is Jim’s 1961 BMW R50S with a number plate that pays homage to the BMW RS 255 Georg Meier rode to victory in the 1939 Isle of Man Senior TT.

The map in background shows London in the 1960s and a route the Ton Up Boys took from the 59 Club to the Ace Café.
